Sky’s Gourmet Tacos

One of my favorite episodes of No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain is when he samples a bunch of late-nite taco stands in Mexico.  It’s very difficult to watch, because the entire time I’m wishing I was down there, tasting the wares after being freshly loose from a round of lazy Sunday tequila sampling.  My second favorite episode is when Bourdain drinks with a bunch of locals in Vietnam.  Oddly enough, I do not recall any cooking, eating, or food consumption in that episode. Just a lot of cross-cultural drink toasting.

Sky’s Gourmet Tacos alleviates some my geographically-inspired anguish because it 1) is right near where I live, 2) has outdoor patio seating, and 3) serves kick-ass tacos.  Almost every taco variation is ridiculously tasty - I myself am partial to the shrimp tacos (pictured).  Sometimes I feel like Los Angelinos take our Mexican food for granted.  We’re just so damn used to having awesome Mexican food available to us - this place was practically deserted at 1 pm on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.  It would undoubtedly be instantly one of the best restaurants in a lot of mid-sized east coast cities.

Added bonus: this place is also half a block away from La Maison du Pain, a bakery that serves tremendous croissants and other goodies.  Have some shrimp tacos, then walk off some calories to La Maison du Pain.  And then prepare to tack the calories back on.
