Do you slurp your ramen noodles?
As Louis C.K. hilariously observes (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TG4f9zR5yzY), the great thing about being white is that a white male can “get into a time machine, go to any time, and it would be fucking awesome.” As an Asian-American, living in caucasian society has often caused me to adapt and change my behavior to fit in.
One place that has manifested itself is the approach I take in eating ramen. Growing up, I used to slurp the hell out of my noodles. It was an instinctual, if not a slightly gross approach. Slurping creates an unappetizing noise and inevitable broth splashback. My grandparents slurped, my parents slurped, my sisters slurped, and I used to slurp.
But no more. However, after seeing this cool NYTimes ramen slideshow, I’ve decided that it may be time to bring sexy back.
