My next post will be a divey place, I swear

When you go to a fancy restaurant in the heart of Beverly Hills in the ground floor of a luxury hotel, the word “value” does not readily come to mind. And Scarpetta does absolutely nothing to dissuade me of this preconceived notion.

I mean, the place is literally smack-dab in the middle of the Nine-Oh-Two-One-Oh. Which makes me wonder, what the hell is Ian Ziering doing right now? I looked him up on Wikipedia and he turns FIFTY YEARS OLD in the year 2014.  WHAT…THE…FUCK.  I actually have a lot of empathy for guys like him. Yes, he earned the equivalent of the Guatemalan GDP for 2010 over his television career. However, I saw him in a bar one time in the nineties being heckled by a bunch of idiots who were teasing him with such conversational openers as “Hey Steve Sanders, you suck” or “Hey Steve Sanders, eat my balls”.  I mean, nobody deserves to be heckled like that.

Despite all the elements of potential snobbery, I have to say, you can get a wonderful meal here. No, the place certainly isn’t a “value”, but it also certainly isn’t “overpriced” for the quality of service and fare you will have here. I can blab all day about all the dishes, but you only need to come away with one takeaway: Scarpetta absolutely nails the spaghetti.  It is potentially the best you will have anywhere in not only Brandon Walsh’s neighborhood, but possibly Los Angeles county. When I come back I’m going to roll to the bar, order a glass of wine and the spaghetti. And if I see Ian Ziering, I’m going to tell him I feel for him.

Scarpetta, 225 N Canon Drive, Beverly Hills, CA 90210.
