I have no idea if General Patton ever personally met Charles de Gaulle, but this dish could easily be the result of a collaboration of their personal chefs.  It represents the symbolism of their backgrounds: the proud, cultural pomposity of the foie gras harmonically co-existing with the steady, dependable and quintessentially American biscuit and gravy.

This Thanksgiving season we should be thankful that Hitler and Stalin’s personal chefs never collaborated, they probably would have come up with diarrhea quiche. - H. Lee
