Pho Sho
Between this restaurant and “Absolutely Phobulous” on La Cienega, I think I’ve covered all the poor-pun-as-our-nameplate pho joints in Los Angeles. Unless of course somebody opens up a joint called “Pho Play”, “All Pho Love” or “Do Me in the Butt”. Note to pho proprietors: the latter name might confuse hungry diners. Or at least creep them out.
The pho broth here is pretty tasty, if not a little bit too salty or laden with MSG. However, the beef slices are not as tender as I have experienced elsewhere. The beef balls were quite good though.
My takeaway is the exact same as it is for Absolutely Phobulous - if you have a pho craving in Culver City and Beverly Hills respectively and want to stay local, these places are perfectly fine, but if you have a few extra minutes to spare I would drive to Downtown or Silverlake. - H. Lee
