Gastrobus (food truck)

Some of you may be thinking I’ve been covering too many food trucks lately - however, are you the one running around town taking pictures of food and posting them on the Internet?  No? So shut it.  Also, the L.A. food truck renaissance is happening, and like it or not, fad or no fad, it needs to be covered.

My friend Dave and I hit up the Gastrobus outside of the MySpace building in Beverly Hills, which is like saying that I went to pick up buffalo wings outside of the Betamax factory or that I went to eat sesame lox bagels at Commodore 64 headquarters.  Dave got a steak sandwich on ciabatta bread, whereas I opted for the braised pork sandwich on a roll.  Both were tasty and definitely above-average for truck fare.  Particularly, the pork in my sandwich had more of a crispy texture, almost like crispy duck.  However, I prefer a little more moist pork on my sandwich.   The truck has some interesting daily specials as well, including root beer floats and plum/tomato salads.

Fellas, you know when a guy doesn’t love a woman, but “wouldn’t kick her out of bed if she magically appeared there” (just say “yes” so I don’t sound like a misogynistic pig, please)?  Well, the Gastrobus is that woman.  If its parked in your neighborhood, by all means, give it a shot and eat some fairly tasty sandwiches.  But I wouldn’t drive across town to go on a date with it.  - H.
