S&W Country Diner
So this is one of our favorite neighborhood breakfast spots. At its core, this place is an old-school diner, but the cute tattooted waitresses and the new twists on comfort-food favorites make this place more appealling than most of its L.A. counterparts. On this occasion, we ordered the homemade corned beef hash and eggs (be advised the canned version is also available if that suits your fancy), a side of grits with cheese and jalepenos (our own invention), and the bacon cheddar waffle (yuuum). I don’t even like corned beef hash that much, but S&W’s version is the bomb. Not too greasy, perfectly crunchy on the outside and the tangyness you want from a well-seasoned hash. I’m not a grit-eater, but Tim says he loves that this place knows how to do old-school grits the right way. And the bacon cheddar waffle? Do I even need to explain? All I can say is, why didn’t anyone think of this before?? Genius….
Be advised - peeps line up here on the weekends (of course they do). - S.P.
