NICK’S COFFEE SHOP

Today I woke up craving a greasy spoon.  So naturally Nick’s on Pico and La Cienega fit the bill.  Nothing fancy or frouffy - just a grill with about 1,000 breakfast and lunch items on the encyclopedic menu.  The real treat here are the hashbrowns.  Note to local diners: homefries ARE NOT hashbrowns. Ok?  Thank you.  This place gets it right.  Another detail I enjoy about Nick’s is that each table is accompanied by every single condiment Father Heinz could ever dream up.  You don’t need to ask for anything.  So go ahead and slather everything in Tapatio and green tobasco.  They don’t mind.

One warning though: the bacon is dry and not that great.  - H. Lee
