Ludobites at Breadbar
Admittedly this is a front-dated post for a trip to Ludobites that we took back in June. However given the short shelf-life of Ludo’s stay at Breadbar before he opens his own venue, I thought this post was appropriate. I apologize for the grainy quality of the photos.
I made two separate trips 3 blocks down to obtain a few bottles of malbec for the BYOB experience. We all thought the menu was quite inventive and playful - the chicken in duck fat was a big hit for its casual adherence to our basic appetite (read: our fat assiness), and the hangar steak was inventive because it was accompanied by hops-based foam and a light radish-derived base.
If you gaze at the picture of the polenta with oxtail ragu, you may notice that it looks unappetizing. The reason is that this is an “after” picture. This was so good that everyone demolished the dish before I could take a proper picture. Enjoy looking at the carcass.
Ludo and his wife were kind enough to talk to our table extensively. Apparently on his time off he likes to partake in Park’s Korean BBQ on Vermont off of Olympic Blvd.
We would have liked to have hit Ludobites one more time for Ludo’s foie gras croque monsieur on squid-ink bread! Wow. - H. Lee.
